Flatwork & Driveways in Maricopa County

Smooth-finish driveways, sidewalks, patios and warehouse floors poured to last through Arizona summers.

Flatwork is what people see and what they walk on every day. EL Construction pours driveways, sidewalks, patios, RV pads, pool decks and warehouse floors with proper sub-base, vapor barrier, rebar, expansion joints, and a finish that holds up to 110°F summers and monsoon rain.

Common problems

  • Cheap driveways that crack in two summers from skipped sub-base
  • Bad joint plans that telegraph cracks across the slab
  • Mismatched color when patching an existing pour
  • Stamped finishes that fade or seal poorly

How EL Construction solves them

  • 4–6 inches of compacted base + vapor barrier + #3 rebar standard
  • Tooled or saw-cut control joints sized to slab geometry
  • Color-matched mix designs for additions and replacements
  • Premium sealers spec'd for UV and pool-deck use

Quick answers

How much does a concrete driveway cost in Phoenix?

A standard broom-finish concrete driveway in the Phoenix area runs $7 to $14 per square foot, including demo of the existing slab. Stamped or decorative work runs $14 to $22 per square foot or more.

Can you pour concrete in summer in Arizona?

Yes. EL Construction pours through the summer using retarders, ice-chilled water, early-morning starts, and disciplined cure protection so 110°F days don't compromise the slab.

FAQ

Flatwork FAQ

How long until I can drive on a new driveway?+

Foot traffic at 24 hours, light vehicles at 7 days, full-weight vehicles at 28 days. We tape it off and give you written cure timing on the walkthrough sheet.

Can you match the color of my existing concrete?+

We can pull a sample, blend integral color or use a tinted sealer for partial replacements. Perfect color match is rare on aged concrete, but we get within a half-shade most of the time.

What finish do you recommend for a pool deck?+

Salt-finish or exposed-aggregate for slip resistance and UV durability. We seal with a penetrating siloxane that doesn't peel.

Do you handle expansion joints?+

Always. Saw-cut joints at 8–12 ft spacing on driveways, tooled joints on smaller flatwork. Skipping joints is the #1 reason cheap pours crack.
